Lee Gar Lin (Darrell Jordan)

Darrell Jordan (Lee Gar Lin) has been studying and practicing Martial Arts since 1967 starting with boxing, and then moving on to Shotokan Karate in 1968 while growing up in NYC. He achieved his Brown belt in Shotokan after 4 years of study and then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1972 Active (infantry/mortars) (and again in 1985 Marine Corp Reserve as a Scout/Sniper). In 1972 he was subsequently shipped out over seas to various countries in South East Asia as an Infantryman. One of those countries was Okinawa, the birthplace of Karate. He immediately went out to locate a Karate school in which he found a local Dojo where Isshin-Ryu was taught not far from Camp Hansen. Sifu Darrell was shipped to the Philippines where he found to his surprise a Shorin Ryu school and he continued his study.

In 1975 Darrell moved back to NYC, and after some research he subsequestnly located the LEE MOY SHAN Ving Tsun (Wing Chun) Kung Fu school, he joined that night when he went to visit. Darrell recalls " I walked into the school and met the Instructor at the time Mr. Steve Goericke. (Lee Gar Xun, Steve has a school in Sag Harbor in Long Island NY), He took me into the gym area and what I saw going on was absolutely amazing. All these guys and gals were facing each other in pairs and their arms seemed to be connected and at the same time they were hitting each other as best as they could with blinding speed. I asked Mr. Goericke what were they doing? He told me Chi Sao (sticking hands)." Darrell joined right then and there after realizing the validity of what he had just observed. Darrell gives credit to all of his Si-Hings (older Kung Fu brothers) for his rapid development in Ving Tsun, but a very special thanks goes to Steve Goericke, Richie Louie, Vinny Thomas, Paul Field, Robert Ham and Li Ping." It was these gentleman that had a profound impact on his development. Of course, without they're beloved Sifu, Master LEE MOY SHAN, none of would exist as they are today."
